‘impacted’ is more appropriate term.

Our family had a favorite Chinese restaurant when I was young, got food from there all the time. The owner retired, and none of his kids wanted to run the place, so he had it torn down and sold the vacant lot.

They are trying to do the same thing in little Lexington here in the midlands. It is barely recognizable from even 10 years ago. Sad.

“Impacted” is descriptive of more serious results than “affected” is. Just IMHO.
