Youngest daughter and I spent a few weeks with friends in Venezuela before Chavez. Those lessons are well ingrained because of the news from those friends. Some of them made it out of Venezuela and some have “dissapeared.” My daughter was 11 when we were there in ‘96. It was a lesson she learned in her teen years hearing of what was happening to peers.
I heartily agree this is a lesson needed for all our schools. I know how it impacted that kid.
Home schooling or the correct private school are becoming about the only way a child can get a decent education. Luckily in states like Florida there are still decent public schools where the communist indoctrination and unions don’t dictate the curriculum. Plus Florida has enough exiles from Cuba and Venezuela to counter-act the communist nonsense some try to foist upon children.
