How about Golden Earring, started in 1961, still the same band members since 1970.
ZZ Top is original since 1969.Rush debuted in ‘74.
I remember living in Houston in the late 80’s and Marvin Zindler was still tooting his own horn about “discovering it.”
A White House with green trim. Only time I saw it..... after Marvin Zindler got it shut down. Maybe 1976-77 ish.

...and got into a skirmish with the local sheriff who slapped Marvin’s toupee off his head. lol
This is the shop just as I remember it, pegboard and all !!! (I can't believe I found this Pic from like 1975)
So We are there one Saturday Night partying away, surveying the mess of motor parts and suddenly someone starts beating on the garage door. The Brothers go to see who it is and They come back with 2 guys with long hair and beards, T-shirts, jeans, boots and They introduce Themselves as Billy & Dusty. Now remember We are 15/16 years old. We're looking at these 2 Guys and thinking they look kinda familiar and then it sinks in- We have just met 2/3's of ZZ Top!!! And We're drinking beer with them!!! They hang out for a couple of hours Partying with Us trading stories and Bench Racing. So that was Our "Brush with Greatness".
This is at the Track (don't know where) and a much better Pic.
This is “MAARVIN ZINDLER, eyewitness news” Channel 13 KTRK Houston!!! IIRC
cool... closest i got was Tampa Stadium summer/73
Saw them in San Antonio.
Got to meet John Force at Ennis(Dallas) back in the mid 80’s. He’s just as crazy in person as on TV.
We were with a Sales Rep from Autolite (Ford) and got to be inside the roped off Pit about 10’ away while they stripped down the car between rounds, one hell of a zoo/dance the Crew does !!!

Good evening friends, Dave Ward.
I grew up with these guys. Dave Ward, Ed Brandon, Bob Allen, Marvin Zindler...there was some other investigative reporter I can’t remember his name.
