I know he pled guilty but isn’t that usually in exchange for a specific punishment? My point here is that the media made it appear that the judge imposed the sentence. Seemed weird.

Federal judges have significant leeway in sentencing whether it is a guilty verdict or a guilty plea. That’s what most people don’t realize.

#983 the judge did decide and empose his sentence of probation (Waco FisA Judge to boot) did not agree with Durham team recommendation, who asked for 6 month prison term.
