“A great physician treats symptoms.”
Unfortunately, it seems too many physicians are proscribed from using all the tools to treat symptoms that are widely used elsewhere in the world. Too many seem to be saying if “if you get really sick, get to the hospital” instead of using the therapeutics shown to work in many other countries.
I inquired of my own doc that, if I show symptoms, would he treat with monoclonal antibodies. I just wanted to see if MABs are in his arsenal. I got a mealy-mouthed non-answer from his assistant.
That's how it is with my "primary care physician," whom I never see when I go there. The place works like a clearing house for patients. They refer you to this or that (the eye doc, the ear doc, the orthopedic, whatever).
Now with covid, if I went there, I'd have to convince a nurse before being allowed in the building. They're considered the best around but I never got the impression they care about their patients. And of course nothing happens without an insurance card, you better have that up front.
