I left DC in the early 80s but I think that 1776 bldg is next door to the bldg I worked in back in the day. There was an ice skating rink in the courtyard during winter.

Yep. There was a Blackie’s House of Beef on the other corner (which I could see from my office window) but I’m not sure it is still there and if Blackie’s is still in business. I worked in 1800 G St. I moved away from the area in 1981. Still have family there but don’t often go downtown, when the kids were growing up we would ride the metro in and go to museums. When I first started working downtown, had to drive in for several months and then the Metro opened. There was some kind of deli or sandwich shop at 1776 G St where we would get lunch and sit in the courtyard to eat. In winter, there was an ice skating rink.
