My dad was a WWII vet and VFW member. At his funeral, they gave him a 21 gun salute which I believe to be the proper protocol.
I read this a long time ago, and this is what his fellow vets gave him. I don’t remember how many rifles were used (probably 7) but they all fired at once, a single volley, with a rest, followed by seven, a rest, then seven more, rest and finally six more.
1-7-7-6.

Ah. The one the President gets is a volley every five seconds. The funeral pace is slower.
They are two different things, rifles vs guns. Explained here:
"The 21-gun salute is not to be confused with the three-volley salute (or three-rifle volley) rendered at military honors funerals, which you might see or hear at Arlington National Cemetery."
I showed the videos of the Trump 21 gun salute from 2017 Inauguration and the claim of media that Biden received a 21 gun salute. But it was NOT it was a visit to Arlington and was a funeral salute. Links to my post here where I thought that was cleared up.
Military salutes are very ritual and very specific. The claim that the military saluted Biden is false unless he was getting a funeral salute. WATCH the Trump Salute. VERY different. The so-called Biden salute was 3 volley. (3 batteries) NOT 4. It was NOT a Presidential salute PERIOD.
