I had not researched the event, yet, But I am going to as for the Maritime Law issue, again we were hoodwinked.
How can I say thins, because I finished reading reams of data on what was happening between England and the United States (please note that nowhere was the term or word used “America”
In reality a 5 person groups of arbitrators was set up between England and the States at the time to settle the claims of loss due to the shipping engagements, including fishing rights, AND the distance that the Continent of States had to fish in.
Did you know we only had a 3 mile offshore fishing permission from the British?
Did you also know that in fact the British Forced upon the States through the DC group that a FREE trade agreement was put into effect and that no cost was to be apportioned in tax or otherwise on goods Form the States to England, the same in return was setup for us, BUT, there was Nothing that we were getting from the English. We at that time were very much self sufficient.
And that 3 mile limit, was set under Admiralty Law byu the British, and that it was not till the negotiation many many years later did the “dominion” of English rights was shrunk to allow us to have the global Sovereign rights to have the 150nm boundary.
Please forgive me, I ramble, but I can point to the Legal Recorded documents to search for in Gov records.
This can of worms is deeper than many want us to dig into as it really does show huge gaping hole plainly hidden in what we are told is history and what was really going on.
Blessings to you and yours

Wow. That’s fascinating. Is there one or two books you could recommend on that subject?
