I think you’re 100% right overall ... though I think Trump knew *exactly* what he needed to know about McCarthy when he invited him down to Mar a Lago.
So, in my opinion, he either showed him what’s coming that will make 2022 a cakewalk :-) (I pray this is the case), or it really was a meeting about 2022 with the DS still around (unlikely, since Trump already got a first hand look at what elections will look like going forward).
I’m sure you’re right. I’ve dealt with known liars (work subordinates and some colourful family members) and it’s still shocking to me when one of them lies right to my face when we both know the truth.
Sometimes I give them a shot at telling the truth anyway, and they never fail to remain true to bad character. It’s an interesting experience in human relationships and pathology. I wish I could have seen the dynamic between McCarthy and the BPE.
