If that new TV is a Smart TV then you can get streaming TV with just the broadband connection Mine is not, its rather dated. With a router, Smart TV you will be able to stream and get free channels like Pluto TV and Tubi.

It says "HD Smart TV" right on the box. :D I'm rather wary of "smart" TVs, though. Shades of Orwell's "1984". 😨 The old TV I'm using now is probably 20 years old and why I've been hesitant to upgrade anything connected to it, afraid they won't work on it. But since I have the new TV, that won't be a problem. Thanks so much!

Yeah if you dont plan on using the Smart TV for video calls find the camera lens and put some black electrical tape over it. The TV itself or remote may also be miked. 🙄

Those TVs are two-way communications devices and so are some voice remotes - for instance: my Roku remote has voice but the button has to be pushed for the mic to be open.
