What will attending the local meeting achieve in terms of upending what is tantamount to a foreign power calling the shots?>br>
I know it is frustrating, but if you attend local meetings you are a part of setting local policy. Local policy turns into regional policy, and regional policy turns into State policy.

For too long, Conservatives have stayed at home and expected their "betters" to know what they wanted. When that didn't happened, we just complain. Voting is one way to be heard, but is no good if the left controls the counting of the votes. If you get involved in local politics you will find you are not the only one frustrated and you can help make the change in election laws.

I was shocked years ago when I went to my first GOP meeting and found out that my local precinct had no local captain and co-captain. How could there be no one willing to represent my community. So, I took on that role. I have no college education and am a simple secretary. Where were all the "experts" I thought to myself. I simply assumed my conservative principles were being represented in my community by those that were "in the know". I was wrong. So, I became the person "in the know" without knowing much about the mechanics but knowing I believed in God, Freedom and the Constitution. It made a difference.

Interesting perspective. Then you have interacted with the political machine I’ve been writing about.

What comes to mind for me is how people like Mitch McConnell stay entrenched. Never mind how the Seventeenth Amendment ravaged the system that the Founders instituted, in terms of state government representation in the federal government.
