I differ from you, though, in that the beauty of Free Republic is that it's not profit-driven. It's not at the mercy of advertisers or investors (some malicious), having to change with the shifting winds. I was away for a while and when I came back, it was like I never left.Not sure how this differs from my sentiment. Large money and profit would have changed FR probably not for the better

It didn’t change the McDonald brothers. They remained small time right up to their retirement, while Ray Kroc became a billionaire using their name & platform.
