We went to visit my mom and her husband a few weeks ago. They live in a non-golf senior community about 10 miles from the Villages.
Just for kicks, we drove over to The Villages. It was absolutely insane. Kind of like Disney for old people. Everything seemed contrived and programmed. The golf cart fashion show was equally nuts.
My mom’s place has tennis, bocce and pools. No golf course. The Villages has something like 40 courses. The best part of my mom’s place was the shop. They have a 5000 square foot shop full of all sorts of machine and hand tools for woodworking, metal craft etc.
It’s what sold her husband on the place. I could see myself living there in a few years.
I call Scottsdale, AZ....”Disneyland for the over 55”
Only thing really missing is ocean views but its a short flight to San Diego when you need it.
