During the first impeachment the House locked out the Republicans. It was an obvious political hit job as there was no evidence and no crime. Just the testimony of a bunch of liars. Republicans were not allowed to cross examine.
When it got to the Senate, arguments were allowed by both sides.

If there was evidence that was not presented, it was because it was already clear they were going to toss it out on it’s ear, as it were, so making it a mute point. Yeah, yeah, I know, moot.
