I know little about this. I just took my clock and displayed it in my mirror.
Is a vertical flip the same as mirrored?
If the clock hands are set to 5pm, and the hands flip along the vertical axis, they will then read 8pm.

Not if the clock face stays the same (not viewed in a mirror) and only the hands flip along the vertical axis.
Minute hand stays pointing on 12, but hour hand moves from 5 to 7.
