He was not re-elected. He did receive overwhelming votes. The _prophets_ were wrong.
Being elected means you assume the office you were elected to, not that you received more votes but for some reason did not assume the office.
Such hair splitting is the conjuring of witchcraft. YHVH (God) and His True Worshippers do not conjure prophecies.
