The American left’s predilection for Soviet-style authoritarianism

The sinister push for "unity" carries a lot of historical baggage.

“The line proposed by the party leadership was clearly defined and utterly consistent. Its tactics were determined by the principle that the ends justify the means — all means without exception. In the spirit of this principle the prosecutor will demand your head, Citizen Rubashov. The arguments put forth will of course be different. But in the background of this fairground performance, as you call it, you will know just as well as the prosecutor what is at stake – the restoration of party unity.”

The above quotation is from Arthur Koestler’s 1941 novel, Darkness at Noon. It relates the grim tale of one of Stalin’s operatives as he is sacrificed on the altar of “unity.” Rubashov is charged with numerous crimes he did not commit though he had come to have doubts about the revolution that became hopelessly genocidal. He is forced to confess to these crimes he did not commit for the sake of party unity.

Joe Biden cannot repeat this word “unity” often enough, so often it has already become meaningless. And of course, it is meaningless coming from a man and a party who have increasingly moved in the direction of Stalin’s regime. That is why they want to impeach Trump again. They fear him like the Soviets feared America’s freedom and economic success even in the 1930s.

Biden and his handlers are assuming most Americans know nothing of world, let alone American history. Sadly, they are correct about too many Americans. Those age fifty and under have long been indoctrinated by the leftism infused into our public-school education and universities for the last fifty years.

All of the leftist talk of “deprogramming” and “reeducation” must make our refugees from communist countries feel right at home again.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? “Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

Civilization

Civilization is the progress toward a society of privacy. The savage’s whole existence is public, ruled by the laws of his tribe. Civilization is the process of setting man free from men.

The precondition of a civilized society is the barring of physical force from social relationships—thus establishing the principle that if men wish to deal with one another, they may do so only by means of reason: by discussion, persuasion and voluntary, uncoerced agreement.

The necessary consequence of man’s right to life is his right to self-defense. In a civilized society, force may be used only in retaliation and only against those who initiate its use.

Ayn Rand

BE PREPARED to be UNCIVILIZED toward the UNCIVIL.

they’ve been stealing elections now for decades. Covered up by their media-propagandists

“honest” votes for Biden were 30-35 million. At most

What the left has done, ever since the 1984 Reagan -Mondale blowout-and Mondale was a “moderate” !-is to start electoral fraud programs in the largest states to turn them from Red-to-Purple-to Blue. They realized they had no future otherwise.

This last election cycle Texas managed to turn it around.
Extreme involvement in your local precincts and making sure paper balloting on ELECTION DAY, with hand counts and recounts in a transparent fashion and setting with open audit trails available to the general public, among other measures-are key.

Its dirty, tough work and initially confrontational
with the existing perps, but it beats the heck outta the
alternatives -which are bearing down like a runaway freight train

The left has focused on corrupting this process-which originates in the deep urban centers. The process is very active presently in Georgia, using Atlanta as its base, the last 2 election cycles

We the People have no future otherwise

And I suffer premonitions
Confirm suspicions
Of the holocaust to come.
The wire that holds the cork
That keeps the anger in
Gives way
And suddenly it’s day again.
The sun is in the east
Even though the day is done.

Pink Floyd
Two suns at sunset

This line was brilliant. “The wire that holds the cork that keeps the anger in...”. That wire is rusted and very weak right now.

I’ve just been watching Ken Burns Civil War again. It’s downright spooky with the last few months and weeks in mind.

In the end, however, the authorities relented and allowed him to go free. It was a nice spring day. Rubashov was thrilled as his former antagonist led him to the basement exit. He could see the trees in bloom through a small barred window. He never heard the shot.

Just about every election precinct in the country is run be democrats. How did we let that happen?
We need activists on our side to coordinate a takeover of the system. Otherwise it is hopeless.

I was forced to read "Darkness at Noon" in my English class as a high school senior 1976-77. It obviously made an impact on me as I still remember it to this day. Back then, public schools warned about the dangers of totalitarianism. Everyone had to read books like 1984, Animal Farm, Darkness at Noon, etc.

I doubt it very much students these days read any of these books in their schools. They are fed lessons from the Communist Manifesto or Rules for Radicals, while being taught white Christian heterosexual males are evil and unworthy of rights or human dignity.

I think part of it is most on the right have jobs to go to everyday. The extreme left, not so much. I remember reading about the left taking over the attornys general offices in states starting in Clintons term. From there it is the frog in boiling water.
