NBC Plans To Shutter NBC Sports Network By End Of Year

NBC has told distributors and some sports leagues that it plans to shut down its NBCSN sports channel by the end of the year. NBC’s most recent affiliate deals with Charter and Dish Network do not include carriage for NBCSN beyond this year, sources said. Plus, sports leagues that have deals with NBC were being told of the changes this week.

NBCSN fired Mike Milbury and Jeremy Roenick pertaining to different un-PC cultural statements and the latter is suing for wrongful termination.

Good for Roenick. I can live without Milbury, but Roenick is fantastic (and he appears to be conservative, politically).

I still like watching the Sunday afternoon NHL games on regular NBC. Has been that much better alternative to the Saturday night Ron MacLean Show on CBC for many years now.

My husband and I mainly watch NBCSN (occasionally) mostly for NHL games. So far the NHL isn’t quite as “woke” as most other sports...

Looks like a lot of it will just go to NBC’s USA Network. Have to subscribe to Peacock (which I don’t want to do) to get the rest, I guess.

Getting rid of professional sports doesn’t have to mean getting rid of sports. Getting everyone outside to play nonprofessional sports would be great. People going to local arenas and parks to watch would be a step in the right direction. The minute someone starts preaching, stop going.
