I remember. Perot actually seemed to have some good ideas & was refreshing at the time. He got what, 10%? And that was considered a successful 3rd party candidate.
Ten percent is enough. There are more Trump supporters, so what if only ten percent stayed with GOP, same problem. Plus, a new party has to jump through hoops to get on the ballot in all fifty states.
Perot received 19% in ‘92 and 10% in ‘96.
Perot getting so much in ‘92 scared the GOP and gave us “The Contract with America” by Newt Gingrich in ‘94 and the first GOP House in over 40 years.
