I'm sure they are satisfied, if not happy.
They now have an opposition to pretend to focus their anger at & pretend to voice "our" concerns. For the most part, in public, they had to go along with Trump even though they didn't want to. Now, they can pretend to have righteous indignation.
Now all they have to do is oppose. They don't have to come up with any ideas, or plans - just rail on the Dims. Coming up with plans & governing is a lot more work than just pointing fingers & saying "that's bad". They get paid either way. We saw this before & up to Ryan's House. They talked a good game about "Repeal & Replace 0bamacare", but when put in the spotlight, they had nothing. They had all that time to come up with something, but the truth that they had done absolutely nothing came to light. A dismal failure, as was the rest of the 2 years the R's had all branches. Their inadequacies & false bravado were all on display.
Being in a tight minority in both the House & Senate is much more lucrative financially. They can leverage their Yay or Nay vote for a much higher ransom. Their votes are more important & can be sold for a higher price. And they aren't going to get any Twitter flack or public pressure from a POTUS Trump now.
Yep, they are probably as happy as a pig in mud.
Good post, ditto it.
