“What will Trump supporters do if they try to send him to prison?”
The Trump supporters are the rule of law people. So, probably nothing. Realistically, what are we going to do? Try to take him back from the Federal Marshals? Will we hide him in the basement?
I am reminded of what eventually brought Hitler to power. Not that I’m comparing Trump to Hitler. The government of Germany, in what turned out to be an epic bad move, brought Hitler to trial. Hitler turned the trial into a vehicle to advance his political career.
Realizing this is a separate trial, if the Senate tries Trump, then Trump will occupy the news cycle for as long as the trial goes on. This will hobble the Senate while that happens and it will rob the Biden administration of what is generally a good period.
Incidentally, where is the Nobel Prize announcement? Since Obama got one for not being GWB, Biden should get one for not being Trump.
Maybe they will create a Nobel Prize for child molesting. He would win that one.
