Politics is not an arena to achieve the perfectibility of man, nor is it a means to create utopia.
I have seen politics variously defined as, "who gets what where and when," "the art of the possible" and, "a substitute (like diplomacy) for war." I think of politics as a way one group of people achieves power over another group. I think of it as a system which is reactive, that is in a democracy politics are corrective and rarely forward thinking. We correct our mistakes after the time of waste and suffering rather than proactively and unerringly choose the right path. As emotionally unsatisfying as that may be, that is the virtue of a democracy, it is open and transparent enough so that mistakes can be recognized and eventually corrected.
Leftist utopian societies claim to be in sole possession of the right path but that is a deadly illusion. It is the purest hubris and a hubristic man is virtually incapable of introspection.
Leftward oriented political entities, like Bolshevik Russia, are utterly incapable of recognizing the failures caused by their ideologies, those "mistakes," that rendered the Soviet Union incapable of preventing its own disintegration. The more one group achieves power over another group, the less capable the ascending group is of recognizing it is going down the wrong path. Today as never before in American politics, the ascendant Democrats have hermetically sealed themselves in an ideology which constricts them even as than it oppresses us.
There ideology variously called, critical theory, critical race theory, intersectionality or postmodernism, have so blinded the left that it is incapable of honest introspection. The ideology fits in perfectly with the left's natural inclination: to play God. Under this hermetic seal the situation in America is very grave because the left is more ascendant in power than ever, at least since Franklin Roosevelt, and therefore all the more incapable of self correction.
This is a combination of power and ideology destined to cause grave suffering. Our short-term destiny is to experience politics as naked power rather than the limited exercise of power which we had come to except as our birthright. There can be no relief until there is a new epistemology, until the hermetic seal is broken.
Nope
NOW is the time for ALL good men to come to the aid of their country
No one in Congress should be making 1000 per day.
They were originally meant to return home to their own jobs.
And the social media has less impact now from the two frauds getting in.
Yes it’s easy to feel like that.
They want us to be disillusioned and retreat under a rock - it’ll be that much easier for them to implement their agenda.
Never forget - you may lose interest in politics, but politics will never lose interest in you. You’re always in the game of politics whether you want to or not.
I got a feeling many.on the left felt pretty disillusioned 4 years ago. But they picked themselves up and created a resistance movement that made everyday hell for Trump. And now they’re back in power.
Yes... but a 30 year habit doesnt go away just because we want it to.... just sayin...
In Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” I am remembering when Frodo said, “I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.” Gandalf replied, “So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.”
As we lament the situation we are in today and wonder where we go from here, Gandalf’s advice rings true. Our responsibility as Christians is to follow Jesus’ command in His sermon on the mount to be “light” and “salt” to the world, not antagonistic and angry, yet at the same time not agreeing and conforming. To be distinct from the world not because we hate them, but because we love the lost sinners. Not compromising, but serving and loving not for our own praise but for the glory of God.
Remember, We know the end of the story!
I want this in a format where I can upvote or like so many of the comments! Yes, yes and yes!
Pissed off is more like it and why I re registered here in NC as unaffiliated last week.
The same sentiment was probably uttered by Patrick Henry, Alexander Hamilton, and Sam Adams at some point.
But with them, it didn't end there....
As much as it seems all the efforts to keep President Trump in office have failed, that is no reason to go apathetic. Trump told us to keep on fighting. His words:
“Our brightest days are before us, our greatest achievements still wait. I think one of our great achievements will be election security because nobody until I came along, had any idea how corrupt our elections were. And again, most people would stand there at 9:00 in the evening and say, “I want to thank you very much,” and they go off to some other life, but I said, “Something’s wrong here. Something’s really wrong. Can’t have happened.” And we fight. We fight like Hell and if you don’t fight like Hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”
YOU really encourage me....Thanks!
Praying for God’s Red Sea timing!!!!!
A very good point!
I watched Mr.Smith Goes to Washington.....with Jimmy Stewart..(circa 1937)
I was gobsmacked at how TODAY it was.....how relevant......how BAD it was then and nothing has changed......except for a President who helped open our eyes.
Most of us , through the years, have figured out there is skullduggery and lies in DC.....
.....but President Trump connected the dots for us!
We can never unsee what we presently have seen.
Nothing will ever be the same!
In the right hands, this could be turned for the good, the best
In the wrong hands......well
Do not lose HOPE
You were born for such a time as this!!!...so was I!
He will never leave you nor forsake you!
The Triune God, and those He chooses to put in my life, is my only reason for existence. I have relearned that lesson the hard way over the last year.
No, not me. I already know politics is a dirty game and I ALWAYS HATE LIBERALS. If you’re disillusioned, then you already gave up the fight and accepted Rapist Joe as your president.
Congrats.
Psalm 37
Nah, it’s just a bigger hassle than I expected.
We’ll get through it.
DON'T FALL FOR IT! DON'T BE A SUCKER!
There has been dirty politics from time immemorial. Some act as if this is some new phenomena that just showed up in 2020. You fight, fight, fight and never, ever give in or give up.
Strangely, I’m energized by
It but I don’t watch TV,
Not in 10 years.
We find ourselves in a
Great Struggle as a Nation.
This Country has grown Fat
and Lazy, I think We will
Survive if we recognize the danger and Stand for
the Good of This Country.
.
God Help Us.
