Well, to be accurate, Britain wasn’t “humbled” by the Japanese until 1942 (esp. the fall of Singapore), some 2 1/2 years after the Soviets invaded Poland.

I doubt the war in Europe played much role in the independence movements in the colonies - which was what I was discussing regarding the Japanese.
