I still remember lots of paperback books around 1968 about the Lost Continent of MU (Lemuria), and in the 1970s THE CHARIOTS OF THE GODS series. Even when proven fake there were True Believers in it.

I still remember the ignorant gathering for the Harmonic Convergence in 1987 to Rebalance the earth by holding hands, and yelling “AH-H-H-H-” at Chaco Canyon and other old ruins around the world.

Lots of such drivel has been published to keep the ignorant thrilled.
