CBs are in the 27 Mhz range, varying by channel. The range is generally line of sight, antennae to antennae. Flatlanders or on water the range can be several miles. If you are in a valley you won’t get far without a big tower. Sometimes there’s signal bounce but that’s mostly anomaly.

We have CBs but rarely use them. I am a HAM altho I only have one functioning short-range radio now. In emergency I expect my 2 meter radio will get more use than the CB because we have a local amateur radio club with whom we coordinate.

Hubby and I do each have hand held battery powered CBs that we use for communication when working out on our acreage. We don’t have a cell signal out on the land but can use line of sight with the hand held CBs.
