A California sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a mountain lion Monday that was stalking a family of four on a bike trail in the Sierra Nevada foothills east of Placerville, county officials said.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said it responded late Monday afternoon to a 911 call from a couple with two small children in a stroller and two small dogs.
The adult mountain lion followed the family for 10 minutes and continued to track them even when they yelled, according to reports.
When a deputy arrived on the scene, he watched the lion pacing back and forth and also tried shouting at the animal, the Sheriff's Office said.

Too bad they called it a mountain lion rather than a cougar for this article. Ruined the chance for a lot of the usual “cougar” jokes in this thread.
another remote possibility was a cougar raised in a home, then let loose- but doubtful

Yikes, I never heard of that before. I always figured it was claws and teeth on the brain stem. At least maybe that impact was a merciful way to go.
They could have gone with “Catamount” or “Puma” and there would be even fewer jokes.

Not at all. We showed ourselves to be ineffective cowards. The mechanisms and organizations for stealing elections remain in place. The demonrats will “win” every election from now until we’re worse off than Cuba.

She was a wild young thang that cougar she was.
It was a shame they had to put her down.
There was a lot of life in her. And that was the problem.
