Hospitals, morgues, funeral homes, and cemeteries in every state in the US and every country on Earth.
At least 394,592 people have died already (confirmed COVID-19 deaths), plus another ~40,000 or so likely deaths from early on in March and April before testing was widely available. In all, CDC says about 400,000 more people died in 2020 versus 2019 (2,855,000 in 2019 vs 3,255,331 in 2020). So this isn't deaths being shifted around between causes, this is NEW deaths unexpected.
Focusing on pinning down an exact number of dead is a mistake. We need to move past that. The real question is WHY are all these people dead? WHY did governors like Cuomo and Newsom (among others) force nursing homes to accept known-infected patients? HOW MANY people died unnecessarily as a result of that policy? WHY did none of them do anything to protect elderly care facilities? WHY did they spark panic with shutdowns/lockdowns, causing a mad dash to the few remaining open businesses like Costco, where people packed in like animals and spread this disease like wildfire? How many lives did THAT cost? Why did Governor Newsom spend over $800 million taxpayer dollars taking homeless people from the outdoors (low risk for COVID-19 transmission per CDC) and putting them in hotels (indoors, high risk for COVID-19 transmission per CDC)?
Some of these actions rise to the level of criminally negligent homicide. And some of these governors are personally responsible for tens of THOUSANDS of unnecessary deaths. By focusing on this absurd notion that nobody's dying from COVID-19, all that's accomplished is letting these guys off the hook. They don't deserve to be let off the hook; they deserve to be prosecuted.
