One group, not “groups. “ The DAV screwed up my paperwork so bad a VA representative took pity on me and helped me through the process of resubmitting the paperwork. That was not his responsibility because my representative was the DAV. Normally he would have just sent me back to the DAV to refile the paperwork, but what they submitted was that bad.

A year later the VA came back and approved my application. The DAV sent me letter patting themselves on the back for assisting me with my application to the VA and getting approval. Really!? Some of their offices are good for what I hear, but not all. The State Office was supposed to review the request before it went in, that obviously never happened.

I had a similar incident. The DAV was my advocate for my disability claim. Took seven years to get it fixed, and that was after I told them I no longer wanted DAV help. Had to do a video medical board with the VA on my own. Seven freaking years. Now the VFW is my advocate. Used them in Washington state and now Texas. They have help.

Every DAV office is different and would not judge them as a group. I live in Indiana now an the closest DAV office to me is a joke. When I lived in Oklahoma the DAV in Claremore was fantastic. Got me to 90% in 6 months.
