“Wow, you just blew my mind. I commented about the connection(s) between the study of music and those who adopt Information Technology as a vocation.”
I saw that, and to be honest, when the light bulb came on, it kind of blew my mind too. I think *math* has something to do with it. (And if you don’t believe that, try some Blue Rondo ala Turk / Dave Brubeck.)
Unfortunately, I was a bit too far down the computer rabbit hole at that point, and while I still enjoy music (a lot, with my lovely Carver and tube setup and ... nevermind), my brain is wired full of 0s and 1s and tracks and trajectories and ... yeah.
But I do remember something fun. Back in college, at the yoop, some friends and I attended the local AoG church, and did the singing/playing etc. I played some Bach, and mostly sang. (If you’re curious, perhaps I have somewhat in common with Christopher Cross. Video woulda kilt me.)
Anyway, I don’t remember the songs, but one Sunday, we were doing our thing, and it was as if everything came together at once. I don’t even remember the song, but we were all in sync, and in harmony as if we were reading each other’s music ahead of time. As the song ended, the chords resolved, and it was a, well, it was a moment.
I still wish we had a recording, but that was a long time ago now. 1991, I think.
But every now and then, I hear something that reminds me. Especially a certain tune by Dream Theater. (”Surrounded”)
Anyway, have a good afternoon, and be sure and play yourself some quality tunes this evening.
(And for the hall monitors, sorry for the lengthy off-topic. I promise, I’ll post something relevant later. :)

Thanks for the short music slide. Good stories.
