The airports weren't paying CNN -- it was the other way around. CNN's advertising revenue must be way down and I suspect that Trump may have found a way to cancel CNN's CIA funding. CNN can't afford to pay the airports anymore.
And CNN’s parent company has been trying to sell, i.e. dump them, since mid-2020.
Twitter lost 6 billion in value. Guess they cant afford to pay for CNN to be in airports anymore. Or maybe CNN had their Chinese money seized under EO 13959
