We had an outage for about 1.5 hours this afternoon (AT&T, in SE Florida), and rebooting the modem did nothing at all. Tried to call to report it from my flip phone, and was waiting 20+ minutes, listening to their endless commercials, before someone answered and said i had reached the number for cell phone service (BS, we don’t even have cell service, so why would that be the number I had on my flip-phone, that I had used before to report AT&T residential outages??) That person redirected my call to a supposedly tech assistance line, where I was promptly greeted with a recording that said “Due to circumstances beyond our control, we cannot take your call at this time. CLICK!”
Then eventually, the modem and internet connection just came back on, as though nothing had happened. Now I’m still trying to catch up reading here. Later I had a call from a friend 5 miles from me who is also on AT&T, who said her service had been out as well.
Spouse is now furious at AT&T for their ‘lousy service’. When I hinted that maybe something unusual or abnormal could be going on in these weird times, he came right out and said I had been “listening to too many conspiracy theories.” But then, he has been saying “it’s all over!” ever since the 6th, so....
I’ve had similar experiences today and in the past with ATT service. it’s painful to do business with those people.
also, wasn’t the SE hub for ATT internet in Nasville across from the RV explosion??
read that hub extended to atlanta, but don’t know if it got to florida???
(no need for tin foil, you’re ok)
