The Jesuits have included astronomers since they were started. Their job was to hobnob it with intelligent people and so they had to be able to be educated to do this. Paul did the same thing when he preached in Athens.

The Arizona telescope was put there because no nearby cities.

They are there with the Univ of Arizona. Some new age multicultural types lament it is a mountain holy to the local Apaches, but that is political correctness...I worked with the Mescalero Apache, and they put a ski area on their holy mountain, and no one complained...they just hold the ceremonials in a different area...

There are a lot of UFO conspiracies about this telescope, but when I worked with the Apaches I asked about UFOs and they laughed and said when they saw strange things flying in the sky they figured it was experimental aircraft from White Sands or other military bases nearby.

This 8:21 minute interview with Christian authors, Dr. Tom Horn and Chris Putnam (Deceased) is from 6 years ago. They discuss and show footage from their visit of this "Large-Binary Telescope". Then name of the telescope is, "Large Binocular Telescope Near-infrared Spectroscopic Utility with Camera and Integral Field Unit for Extragalactic Research" or L.U.C.I.F.ER.

Rev Tom Horn just doesn’t undetstand Catholicism.

He reminds me of those preachers who mean well but his arguments are silly to any educated Catholic.

Try googling a video from Brother Astronomer...
