Why would someone need to hack the election via military satellite, when you can hack the election via the internet? If I remember the voting machines and servers are connected to the internet.
The "need" is for military grade encryption which hides the data being transferred, and to cross international borders to make it more difficult for courts in the U.S. to compel testimony. Sure it could be done in the U.S., but it would be easier to detect, and prosecute. These people didn't want to get caught.
This story does not pass the mustard test.
I never heard of the mustard test. Is that to get stains out of clothes? Is it easier than the ketchup test?

Mustard test is an American slang. Sorry I must remember my audience.
can't cut the mustard By the way I use to work with Military Satellites, I would set up satellite terminals for internet reach back via Satellite in remote places to a Standard Tactical Entry Point (STEP). That STEP location would connect me to the internet.
In areas with with Internet access we would simply set up our military grade encryption to provide reach back to our military servers. No need for a satellite.
Still does not pass the Mustard test.
