All we got in exchange were diplomatic smiles, successive presidential courtships, and the promise of liberalism from a country that refuses to savor a drop of it.

And the New York Stock Exchange suddenly did an about face and stopped the delisting of three Chinese Telecoms (being delisted due to a Trump executive order). Stock analysts were shocked by the sudden change. I don’t know why they are shocked. Look no farther than Corn Pop Joe.
China wants food and raw materials like coal and ores.
The Chinese use leverage. They control nations by controlling individual politicians and bureaucrats. That is how they took over the vast resources of much of Africa for cheap. It is happening now is the US.
