Roll Call reports Senator Charles Grassley will preside over the electoral process, tomorrow.
Clarifying that Roll Call report is Grassley’s office explaining that Grassley presides over the Electoral Count only in the event that (*if*) VP Pence steps away to count votes, or if Pence does not show up.
*Grassley’s office fully expects Pence to be present.*
Roll Call reminds readers that in the past, the Vice-President did Not attend the session at all back when Nixon was counted for the Electoral win, in similar sesdion.
Maybe this is a very good contingency plan showing good preparation for any event.
Media may try to cause our heads to explode over this announcement.
I’ve been wondering about that. Grassley said he was presiding, then withdrew/obfuscated the statement, claiming something stupid about being available if Pence needed a bathroom break.
Oh well, the path forward will be clear after tomorrow’s festivities.
