As SecDef he has no shortage of $$ available. As a patriot I doubt he cares about anything besides the success of whatever op I hope is in play. I doubt based on his history he rattles easily in the face of bureaucracy let alone a foreign or domestic enemy.
I can’t help but think about the comments he made directly to Mike Pence at the 1-year anniversary event for Space Force. Of course you’d have to watch in its entirety to hear what he said in context, but he seemed to be quite aglow with praise for Pence.
