In the last few inaugurations there have been fences enclosing the entire mall. I had to go through security gates in order to get onto the mall for both GWB inaugurations. We have seen no plans to put up that security fence. This indicates to me that the Dems never planned to have anyone on the mall for the inauguration anyway.
I wonder if the giant communication tower that is seen in videos from Jan 6 are there to make it seem that everything is normal in Biden’s inauguration from the standpoint of pictures and videos of speeches, people up on the Capitol terraces etc. Was such a tall communication tower there for previous inaugurations? Or is it there now so Biden can read from a huge computer screen situated directly in front of himself as he did at his few campaign events?
Agree that it has not as much to do with inauguration as sending a message to Deplorables. Show of force, and all that. Additionally, I don’t see either the troops or the barriers being gone any time soon.
