FORT DRUM, N.Y. (WWNY) - There’s word that Vice President Mike Pence is coming to Fort Drum this weekend.
North country congresswoman Elise Stefanik said in a statement Wednesday night that she will join Pence “to thank soldiers and their families” Sunday.
“It is an honor to welcome Vice President Pence to our district to express the Trump Administration’s appreciation for our selfless military community.,” Stefanik said.
“”As the chief advocate for Fort Drum and the 10th Mountain Division, I express my sincere gratitude to Vice President Pence and the entire Trump Administration for their unwavering commitment over the past four years to rebuild America’s military readiness and support the brave men and women who proudly serve.
A press release from the White House Office of the Vice President said Pence’s wife, Karen, will accompany him on Sunday’s trip.
According to the news release, Pence will deliver remarks to 10th Mountain Division soldiers, many of whom have recently returned from Afghanistan.
Pence is expected to spend a couple of hours at Fort Drum in the late afternoon.

This has been bothering me. May have misunderstood some posts in the confusion around Jan 6.chaos. The young woman killed was supposed to have been a 19 year veteran of military. Is that right? Don’t most serve twenty years to meet the requirements for a full pension? Why retire a year before full pension?
