In sum the Capitol was NOT protected.
No National Guard, no reasonably expected defense.
It was a set up, a trap. there was an orderly peaceful protest until... the doors were opened.
On whose orders?
If I went to see the Congress and was let in I would go in.

When I see a barricaded door, I usually think that maybe I shouldn’t go in there. If the barricade is knocked over, then I think that I really shouldn’t go in there. And I don’t. My children don’t. My grandchildren don’t. It’s not rocket science.
If I drive by the bank at night after it closes, and there is no National Guard, no reasonably expected defense, I do NOT think that it is okay to enter the bank.
These people were not let in. They broke in. There is a difference. They knew or should have known they were not supposed to be in the buidling at that particular time. Unless you want to blame the President for “sending” them.
