Maybe; I can’t see them being able to follow the prescribed protocol that quickly. Not that they care. But that’s why I think it’s being used as a stick to encourage resigning.
Back in the late 70s, we had a governor who was selling pardons and liquor licenses (he eventually went to prison). TPTB were concerned on what he planned to do in his final days in office. Not finding anything in the state constitution that told when exactly the new governor could be sworn in, the new governor was sworn in 3 days early. That’s known as a Tennessee impeachment.
The new governor was Lamar Alexander.
I agree. But like you, I'm not sure they care about following any rules.
