eyeamok? The question really isn’t why was Goldman there, that’s a peripheral issue, and clearly beside the point. The salient issue is and always has been, “Did OJ murder Ron Goldman and Nicole Simpson, or not.”
OJ was found ‘not guilty’ largely because of a ‘change of venue’ combined with an incompetent prosecution team and a judge who relished the spotlight. Additionally, there were ‘chain of custody’ irregularities with OJ’s blood evidence found at the double murder site. However, it was OJ himself and his famous glove hoax along with the impeached testimony of Detective Mark Fuhrman over his use of the word ‘nigger’ that saved The Juice.
Fuhrman testified he’d never used the N-word, but OJ’s celebrity attorney, F Lee Bailey forced Fuhrman to acknowledge that he had indeed included the offensive word in back and forth dialogue in a movie script he’d written about his experiences in law enforcement.
Boil it all down and the ‘change of venue,’ OJ’s glove hoax, and Fuhrman’s use of a taboo word are the major factors that let OJ walk. But, chief amount them was the ‘change of venue.’ Once the jury would be selected from LA rather than from Santa Monica (the jurisdiction where the crime occurred) OJ was already halfway out the door. All he needed for the full walk was an instance of plausible uncertainty. And he got several of them. The jury, (an ‘OJ jury’ - which later became a cliche) set him free, which was their original and sustained predilection.
Always remember that Nicole had detailed OJ’s violent physical abuse in her diary and had predicted that he would kill her - and get away with it.
