I just ran across this Youtube channel called R&R Law Group. This video does a really good job exploring the body of law that will be coming into play on Jan. 6th. The host also mentioned something interesting that I haven’t seen reported anywhere else. He claims that President Trump’s campaign team have indicated that they will be presenting evidence on Jan. 6th if objections are raised and the two chambers are forced to debate the objections.

So it’s starting to sound like we may have the real possibility of a series of mini-trials, if you will, taking place on Jan. 6th. And I assume all the debate and deliberations will be broadcast live if such a scenario unfolds. Maybe I’m misunderstanding what he said, but that’s the impression I was left with.

Josh Hawley has committed to objecting to the Pennsylvania electors. It’s unclear if he will raise objections to any of the other states. Pennsylvania alone would not be enough to prevent Biden from being selected.

For each state that is being challenged, the two chambers have up to 2 hours to debate and vote. So if multiple states are challenged, the proceeding could easily last all day, and maybe into the following day.

Also, based on precedent, a motion to table debate is not allowed, which means that the Democrats won’t be able to shut down debate and push for a quick vote.
