I was delivering chow to the arty @ Palms, 200 yds at least behind the battery. They did a battery fire and it hurt my ears while I was sitting there turning. There is no ear protection effective against that.

I was in 05s. No ear protection but fingers in the ears.
The Marines already there said buy aspirin.
Take the cotton out of the top of the bottle and stick it in your ears, then eat the bottle of aspirin.
