The best part about those commercials we get to pay for? There are more of them than ever before! It used to be around ten minutes per hour, but now it seems to be closer to ten minutes per HALF hour. There is even a show called “22 minutes”, the title referring to the amount of actual programming per half hour.

It's even bad in the free video-on-demand stuff (FIOS). I sometimes watch NCIS and when the show is recent it will run the full hour. As time goes on the commercials would get dropped and the run time would be about 43-44 minutes. I watched a couple old episodes yesterday that have now been padded with another 10 minutes of commercials for a run time of 55 minutes.
