My husband has a friend that he’s known since grade school. This “friend” of his has turned in to a flaming liberal. The friends daughter, who provides his political information, stays home on the taxpayer dime with CFS .
Anyway this friend of his is always insulting and condescending. He believes he is right and my husband is wrong on everything. If solid proof is provided that he may be wrong, it is ignored or called a personal attack.
This upsets my husband, as he is always interested in open and fair dialog between differing beliefs, and gee, he’s known the man over 50 years. This friend of his has admitted that my husband is the only conservative friend of his that has not “unfriended him”.
Somehow, this makes his liberal friend a bigger a whole rather than a smaller a whole . Kind of like a self fulfilling prophesy (let’s see if you’re my friend if I say THIS!)
I finally told my husband that friend or not...he was engaging a troll and that trolls will never admit error. I told him a troll is not worth the spit to to put him out if he were on fire.
So he finally unfriended the troll and is much happier for it.
