I know someone who goes into a fit from every smartphone newsfeed. A very passive and reactive consumer of mainstream media propaganda. Hates Trump and said I should “celebrate” that Biden won.
I’ve told this person, think for yourself, don’t get news from just one source, get it from many sources.
This person has maybe a tiny mental crumb of curiosity or skepticism. There is a bit of hope. Maybe.
Maybe it’s because I live in such a deep blue area. People are afraid to question because it will mean retaliation.
But I’d like to think there are more questioning people out there than I’ve seen.
Polls are crap but they’re always crap in the wrong direction. But before the 2016 eleciton I saw a poll that said only 30 odd percent (35?36? can’t remember) of Americans trust the new media.
I think it’s less now. People are definitely afraid to voice their real views, especially now with mazks and lockdown crap.
