Im not a skiier but i think when you lean too far forward over your skiis you kind of get ahead of yourself and likely lose control. Maybe?
Oh it’s a bit of an elite phrase, kind of a put down. I just read that! Since skiing isn’t available to everyone, just rich white people... (sarcasm).
This from a stupid Quora article.. take it with a crate of salt..
“According to the Daily Intelligencer, the phrases metaphorical use appears to have begun in the finance world of the late 20th century. It’s first usage in non-skiing publications was in early nineties financial publications such as ‘Investment Dealers Digest’. Since skiing was brought into the recreational arena by the white upper class* - it makes sense that investment bankers would have allow their weekend hobbies to inform their workplace slang.”
But of course it makes sense!! (more sarcasm)
Ozola used it to refer to Biden at one point lol.
I don’t know if you lose control.. you have to lean forward if you wanna go down hill. And on a steep slope, you lean forward and over the skis, put more pressure on the tips.
It’s a stupid term. I deem it so lol.
