A friend of mine told me years ago, you’ve got a much better chance at survival with bullet wounds compared to knife wounds. he explained it quite well at the time. In essence, it has to do with the size of the wounds and the damage they do.
DH was a fire vol for 8 years, got EMT training as well, went on many calls, we have a lot of crime for a rural area. Bleedouts from a bad knife wound are not uncommon, esp. since LE is often 30-45 minutes away. And a man lunging with a knife can be very fast.
