They may also have similar lifestyles and culinary preferences. It is well known that Covid disproportionally affects fat people, and countries with a lot of fat people are disproportionately affected. Many African countries have had some of the highest infection rates but some of the very lowest death rates. The thing that most of these countries have in common is that their populations tend to be leaner than populations in Europe and the USA.
