Actually, we now know that most poliovirus infections are asymptomatic, and flaccid paralysis or death occurs in less than 1% of those infected with poliovirus. Based on current medical knowledge, and freeper antivaxxer statements, it seems clear than if a disease like polio spread today, many would dismiss it as a fake disease. The internet would be filled with crazy conspiracy theories about the virus, the vaccine, the mark of the beast, Bill Gates and the new world order.
